Rough casting is a wet-dash render that’s thrown onto the wall rather than trowelled smooth, giving a textured finish that sheds rain and copes well with exposed elevations.
We prepare the surface properly before casting so the render keys in and stays put — a rushed base coat is the most common cause of render failing early.
Old or loose render removed and the wall cleaned back to a sound base.

It depends on the weather and coat thickness, but the render typically needs several days of dry conditions to cure properly before it’s left exposed to heavy rain.
Only if the existing render is sound. Where it’s cracked, hollow or coming away from the wall, we strip it back first so the new coat has something solid to bond to.
Not necessarily — the render can be finished with a coloured mix so it doesn’t need painting. If you’d prefer a painted finish, that can be arranged once the render has fully cured.
